Bethenny Frankel has no time for the haters. On Monday, August 31, the 49-year-old snapped an up-close photo of her real, unfiltered skin after critics accused her of having fillers, botox and anti-aging to touch up her appearance.
The social media drama began when Skinnygirl founder posted an unfiltered selfie wearing her wavy brown hair down and minimal makeup. She wears a denim shirt and a gold chain necklace in the pretty snap.
The mom of one got real with her fans in the caption. “The more I see photos on social media that are filtered, contoured, eyelashed, extensions, & retouched — the more important it is to post #nofilter, real, everyday photos” she wrote. “I want to show our daughters (and sons) a realistic female image.”
She went on to post a bunch of hashtags:“#THISiswhatilooklike #this is me #ulfilteredselfie #noglam #workingmom.”
A large majority of Frankel’s 2.2 million Instagram followers celebrated the unedited snap, writing encouraging notes like “Love you Bethenny” and “You’re beautiful, inside and out!” The pic has amassed thousands of likes, but some critics refuse to accept that the photo is really natural at its core.
“Good point!” one person commented. “Is that before fillers, botox and anti-aging whateva dafuq??” Frankel clapped back, “Hi angry person. Nope… you can see my face up close on my story..try again.”
The Real Housewives of New York OG snapped another selfie for her Instagram Story, to prove that she, like everyone, has wrinkles and fine lines. “This one is for the haters,” she wrote as a text overlay on the photo. “I’ve earned these lines….and no filler…look at my mouth. These lips don’t lie.”
Another critic commented on the Instagram feed selfie, “Yea but you have had a lot of work done….so are you really showing a real ic???” To that, Frankel replied, “I had botox injected into my jaw years ago after years of grinding and jaw muscle building and increased pain.”
This isn’t the first time Frankel’s clapped back at social media users. In October of 2018, critics had strong feelings about her Victoria’s Secret Angel Halloween costume. Many commented that it wasn’t “age appropriate.”
“For those haters, I suppose that monetizing reality TV is not the only good idea that the Kardashians and I have shared simultaneously,” she wrote in the comments section of her Instagram post. “For those who bash theirs or my body, go hate somewhere else.”
