Emilia Clarke is a killer week in terms of her glam. First, she stunned at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum in NYC, then she totally stopped traffic at the L.A. Premiere of Solo: A Star Wars Story on Thursday, May 10 — particularly with the way her buttery platinum blonde tresses were styled. And we have all the details on how the

Clarke’s signature lob was pulled back into a deep side-parted half-updo that was shiny, modern and classic with intricate gold threads wrapped around the ties. And of course, because the couture coif was concocted by celebrity hairstylist Adir Abergel, naturally the look perfectly complemented Clarke’s deep red Valentino dress. The cinching at the waist was even mirrored in her hair!

Thankfully, while this look is high impact, it’s relatively easy to achieve, and Abergel kindly shared the steps with Us.

Shine is a key element of this look, so Abergel used Virtue’s New Reparative Mask , which he describes as his new favorite. He left it on for about seven minutes to give Clarke’s bleached strands the moisture and sheen it needed for the style.

Then Abergel sprayed Kusco Murphy Volumizing Spray on the top section of the hair, targeting the roots. Prior to blowdrying, he also applied Hair Ritual by Sisley Precious Hair Oil from the mid shaft to the ends. Next: the creation of a deep side part. Abergel used Bio Ionix 10X Dryer on medium heat to dry the hair until it was 80 percent dry. Once it was nearly dry, he swapped to a round brush too add volume where needed.

Once dry,  a dime-size squeeze of Virtue Polish Un-Frizz Cream was smoothed over Clarke’s strands to eliminate fly-aways.

And now for the fun part: Abergel took a thin section of hair from both sides of Clarke’s head and pulled them back to the crown area until they were connected, securing them with a clear elastic. Then he repeated the same step with another section right below.

To finish, Abergel gave the look a delicate accent by sewing a gold thread to embellish the hair (and also hide the elastic).

Et voila! Gorgeous, gilded half-up hair in couple twists of a tie!
