Nothing less than a princess hairstyle for Lady Sansa! Sophie Turner chose a soft braided updo for her turn on the 2016 Emmys red carpet on Sunday, September 18, in L.A., and Us Weekly has all the exclusive details.

To create the plait, celebrity hairstylist Christian Wood conditioned Turner’s freshly dyed platinum tresses with Uberliss Bond Sustainer, “the perfect deep conditioner for girls with color-treated or damaged hair.” He then tipped her head upside-down and dried her hair completely.

Starting at the nape of the neck, Wood, who also works with Emily Ratajkowski and Britt Robertson, created S-shape waves using the Uberliss flatiron. He spritzed the 20-year-old Game of Thrones actress’ entire head with texture spray, then back-combed the hair at her crown for an extra boost of volume.

After brushing out Turner’s waves with a bristle brush, Wood braided the X-Men: Apocalypse actress’ hair. For an undone look, he gently pulled at pieces of the finished plait with his fingertips. He secured it with a thin, leather rope, misted the hair with spray for hold and pulled a few more pieces loose to frame her face.

Turner complemented the hairstyle with a sleeveless black lace Valentino dress — all the better to show off her brand-new tattoo for the first time. As Us Weekly previously reported, she and her Thrones costar Maisie Williams, who plays her sister, Arya, on the hit HBO series, got matching tats reading “07.08.09” just days before.

“We always kind of said we want matching [tattoos],” Turner told E! on the red carpet. “The date was always really significant … and then with Thrones, we were always planning from season 1, like if we make it all the way through, hopefully we could all get a matching thing.”

Noting the series’ habit of axing its leads, the British beauty also added, “We don’t know if we’re going to make it, so Maisie and I were like, ‘Let’s get these ones before anyone kills us!'”
