If you’ve binged through all three seasons of Queer Eye, you’ve probably already fallen in love with the Fab Five. Chances are you’ve also probably wanted the “make better” experts to turn your world upside down and give you a new hairstyle, too, boo. Well that’s not happening, but you can give your nails tender love and care with Essie’s new collaboration with Jonathan Van Ness.
The nail polish brand revealed on Thursday, June 6, that it partnered with Van Ness — the lacquer’s first non-female ambassador — for PRIDE month to promote expression and inclusivity.
Hennys, this is just what we’ve been waiting for!
“I’m so honored to announce I’ve teamed up with @essie as their first non-female ambassador in celebration of Pride,” the grooming expert shared to Instagram on June 7, sporting rainbow nails. “For me, polish has always been a form of self-expression. Right now that means this mosaic rainbow mani moment. Wearing it proud!”
The paternship is just as colorful as the 32-year-old’s bubbly personality. It ranges in six colors: a bright royal blue called “butler please,” a soft coral called “tart deco,” a neon coral called “come here!” a neon called “in the cab-ana,” a light green-shade in “chillato” and a lilac in “play date.”
And if you really want to channel Jonathan Van Ness realness and cop his look, his go-to style is to only paint a few nails, rather than the whole hand. Each of the colors were used to create an abstract rainbow nail art on his ring and pinky fingers for this campaign. To recreate the look, just apply each shade one at time on your desired nails and blend the colors into a marble effect using the polish brush.
The end result? A gorge mani that will show off your LGBTQ+ pride throughout the month of June.
