Queer Eye’s style expert Tan France is known for his impeccable fashion on the Netflix series, so when he stopped by Us Weekly’s studio to chat about his new book Naturally Tan, we had to have him answer all of our reader’s biggest summer fashion queries. Do or Don’t: Flip-flops to a Beach Wedding
“If you are going to a pool or beach, flip-flops are fine. But, come on mate, there’s gotta be something better for a wedding. Would you consider a sandal, maybe? A sandal would be a lot more sophisticated, makes it look like you made more of an effort. So go with a sandal.”
Do or Don’t: Rompers for a Guy
“If you feel like that’s your story, then go for it. I, personally, don’t wear a romper. I just can’t imagine that I’m going to be super comfortable. I need to pee a lot, and that’s just not gonna be so glamorous when I have to take a whole suit off. Try, like a co-ord instead, a short that matches a shirt, and then it’s a lot easier to use the restroom.”
Do or Don’t: White After Labor Day
“That is a very strange American rule, and I don’t love a fashion rule, anyway. If you think that something works for you, go for it. White after Labor Day – I love white year-round.”
Do or Don’t: Capris
“It’s a simple answer. No. No one can wear capris. People try. No one looks great. If you’d like to remain celibate, please do continue to wear capris.”

“No. Simple answer.”
Do or Don’t: Cargo Shorts
“I don’t like a cargo short, I prefer a cargo trouser to a cargo short. And also with a trouser, maybe go for something slightly more tapered. A cargo short just hits in a weird point, and it creates a lot of bunchiness, bagginess around the hips. No one needs extra width around the hip, so I would say maybe try other options. Or maybe try like a crossbody or a fanny pack, if you really have that many things that you need to carry in your cargo shorts. And what are you carrying in your cargo shorts?”

“I’m into the Birkenstock trend, please continue.”

“Board shorts are heinous, quite simply.”
