Black velvet, if you please! Despite the still-soaring temps in NYC, Kim Kardashian stepped out wearing a velvet dress on Wednesday, September 14.

The 35-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star's on-trend Alice + Olivia look featured both a cleavage-flaunting neckline and a high-low hemline. But, being the bold fashionista she is, she also put a fresh (and seasonally appropriate) twist on the style by adding snakeskin booties that hit her mid-calf and a teeny pom purse covered in fur.

The mom of North, 3, and Saint, 9 months, was joined by her husband, Kanye West, who kept things casual in an oversized tee, black pants, and lace-up boots.

While you may think it's too soon to break out the velvet — autumn officially begins on September 22 — Kardashian is hardly the first celeb to wear it this season. After Blake Lively wore a marigold dress crafted from the plush material at the Cannes Film Festival in May, Emma Roberts, Dakota Fanning and Bryce Dallas Howard all stepped out wearing velvet or velvet-accented ensembles.

The Kimoji creator has had a busy week in the Big Apple. She attended her husband's Madison Square Garden concert on Monday, September 5, then watched him present his Yeezy Season 4 collection on Wednesday. And then, on Friday, September 9, she attended Harper's Bazaar's annual Icons party, where she modeled a nearly naked lace dress by Givenchy.
