King Charles III is not just the monarch but also a thoughtful grandpa.
During his three-day Ireland tour with wife Queen Camilla beginning on Tuesday, May 19, the King snagged a trendy gift for his granddaughter Princess Charlotte amid his visit to Belfast.
Charles, 77, stopped by the science and discovery centre Odyssey Place, which includes state-of-the-art digital learning hub W5 LIFE (Learning Innovation for Everyone), where he met several up-and-coming business owners supported by the King’s Trust.
He was seen chatting with Rachel Rose, owner of jewellery business Empower Flower, who presented him with one of her colorful beaded handbag charms. “Thank you, she will love that,” Charles replied about Princess Charlotte, according to a report published by Hello! on Wednesday, May 20.
Princess Charlotte recently celebrated her 11th birthday on May 2, at which time Charles was away in Bermuda. (In addition to Charlotte, Charles’ son Prince William and daughter-in-law Princess Kate Middleton share Prince George, 12, and Prince Louis, 8.)
“I wanted to give back after experiencing some dark times myself,” Rose said. “I’m trying to encourage people to come off their phones and use their hands to create some magic.”

The entrepreneur sells an assortment of beaded phone charms, jean charms and bag charms with vibrant and cotton-candy colored bows, strawberries, butterflies, soccer balls and more.
She later shared a video of her meeting with the King via Instagram, captioned, “I’ll genuinely never get over this moment 😭💗. So thankful and honoured to have been chosen to showcase @empowerflowerworkshops as part of the 50 years celebrations of @kingstrust today in @w5belfast 🫶🏼🧚🏻♀️💗🙏🏻🌸💫.”
Rose added, “@empowerflowerworkshops officially has the Royal seal of approval 💌💋”
Royal biographer Robert Jobson recently dished about Charles’ bond with Charlotte, telling Hello! that she very much “enjoys a close relationship” with her grandfather. “He totally adores her,” the author added. “She loves it when he reads to her in his funny voices.”
King Charles and his granddaughter appear to love a gift exchange, as he was seen in July 2024 wearing a bracelet seemingly given to him by Princess Charlotte, who had been spotted wearing something similar around the same time.
The young royal, known to be a Swiftie, showed off her sweet sense of style at the Wimbledon matches that summer, rocking a polka-dotted dress and bright pink glasses for the sporting event.
