Justin Herbert proposed to Madison Beer with a boulder of a ring.

The singer, 27, and NFL star, 28, announced their engagement in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday, July 28, captioned, “Meet my fiancé.” In a series of new photos shared by the couple, fans got a look at her massive sparkler, which is an “antique elongated cushion-cut diamond,” Ali Galgano, founder of New York and Greenwich-based fine jewelry house Serpentine Jewels, exclusively tells Us.

“Its rectangular outline with softly rounded corners is characteristic of a cushion cut, while its chunky, broad facets are a hallmark of antique cutting styles,” Galgano — who did not personally work on Beer’s engagement ring — adds, noting the diamond appears to be 6 to 8 carats. “Those larger facets produce bold flashes of light rather than the splintery sparkle typically seen in modern cushion cuts.”

The jeweler continues, “Unlike many antique cushions, which tend to have a rounded, slightly bulbous outline, this stone is unusually sleek, with straighter sides and a more linear silhouette.”

Galgano also estimates the ring to be worth $300,000 and $500,000, assuming it’s a natural stone. She says the rare diamond appeared to be “remarkably white” and set on an 18k yellow gold band.

“One of the most striking features of the stone is its exceptionally elongated shape,” Galgano continues. “Its length-to-width ratio likely exceeds 1.6 — a very rare proportion, particularly in a diamond this large.”

Jeweler Laura Taylor, who specializes in wedding rings at Lorel Diamonds, agrees that the ring is worth six figures, speculating that it ranges from $400,000 to $640,000.

“From the images shared, the engagement ring appears to feature a large elongated cushion-cut diamond, set on a slim band, most likely in platinum or white gold,” Taylor tells Us in a statement. “The center stone looks to be around 5 to 6 carats, particularly from how much of her finger it covers in the photos. It’s a size that we’ve come to expect from celebrity engagements nowadays, where the diamond takes center stage.”

Taylor notes that the “minimal” setting allows the diamond to really shine. “Elongated cushion-cuts are especially popular because they offer the best of both worlds. You get the softness and sparkle of a cushion-cut, but with a longer shape that makes the diamond appear larger and more flattering on the hand,” Taylor explains.

Beer and Herbert first sparked dating rumors in August 2025 when the Los Angeles Chargers quarterback was seen visiting the singer on a music video set in Los Angeles.

They publicly confirmed their relationship in October of that month, when they were seen kissing on the sidelines before a Chargers game.
