Belle of the ball!
On the arm of the President, First Lady Michelle Obama attended the 37th Annual Kennedy Center Honors in Washington, D.C. on Sunday, Dec. 7, and she literally sparkled in the shimmering gown.
FLOTUS, 50, donned a blush Monique Lhuillier dress with a sheer neckline, embellished with iridescent beading from top to bottom. Snapped heading out of the very festive White House with President Barack Obama, Mrs. Obama’s matching pink accessories—which included drop earrings and a cocktail ring—were on full display as well.
Once the pair finally arrived at the Kennedy Center, the Obamas were seated in the balcony next to honorees Tom Hanks and Lily Tomlin. (Sting, Al Green, and ballerina Patricia McBride were also recognized.)
Even the show’s host, Stephen Colbert, noted the First Lady’s lovely look—though, of course, he added a zinger in his style review. “Madam First Lady, lovely to see you, good evening. There she is, looking radiant, next to the President, which I assume means she has no future plans to run for office,” Colbert joked.
Obama wasn’t the only lady who gussied herself up for the night out. Jane Fonda, gorgeous at 76, looked glamorous in her semi-sheer Reem Acra dress, complete with coral reef-like beading on its side panels.
Likewise, Meryl Streep and Lady Gaga, on hand to offer tributes to the honorees, also dressed up in floor-sweepers and were snapped alongside performers Bruce Springsteen and Bruno Mars inside the event.
