Mindy Kaling shut down the red carpet at the world premiere of her latest film, Ocean’s 8, in NYC on Tuesday, June 5 — and of course, she looked like a glowing goddess.

The actress brought the high-octane glamour, courtesy of beauty guru and celebrity makeup artist Janie Kinjo who created a look inspired by the Met Ball heist that takes place in the film. Kinjo gave Us the exact step-by-step for nailing Kaling’s look — and even told Us about how their glam time had to be cut short since there was a wardrobe malfunction and Kaling needed to be sewn into her gown!

First Kinjo prepped the funny girl’s skin by applying Glossier Super Glow serum and then de-puffed and brightened her under eye area with Skyn Iceland’s Hydracool Firming Eye Gel. Then, once her skin was prepped, it was on to priming. Kinjo applied DHC Velvet Skin Coat Primer around Kaling’s eyes to keep her makeup in place for the evening.

Kaling’s eye’s were the focal point of her beauty look so Kinjo dabbed Makeup For Ever Artist Color Shadow in Matte Black in a cateye shape for a dramatic effect. Then, she layered Chanel eyeshadow with silver flecks to mimic the same metallic embellishment in her dress in the inner corners of Kaling’s peepers to make them pop. Then, she added a slick of Sephora Color Shadow Liner in black at the top and bottom of her eyes, a few Ardell individual lashes and Glossier Lash Stick.

Kinjo highlighted Kaling’s skin with a combination of Glossier Stretch Concealer in the shade 30 and 40 on her T-zone and under her eyes. As for contour, Armani  Luminous Silk Foundation 11.5 was applied to enhance Kaling’s cheekbones. At which point, Kinjo then applied a light coat of pressed powder to keep everything in place.

Kaling’s flush perfectly complemented the silver in her eyes thanks to a light touch of Glossier Cloud Paint in the shade Haze.

And the lipstick? It was a cocktail: Generation G in Jam as the base, brightened with Gen G Crush dabbed on top and finished with a touch of the Glossier lip gloss for sheen at the center of her pout.

Because Kaling’s look is so focused on her incredible glow, we had to know the secret for next-level skin. “It is all about layering and not over powdering.  Powdering helps control the glow and layering helps to turn up the glow where you want,” explains Kinjo.

There you have it, world premiere glam fit for a Met Gala heist.
