First up, the sassy fuchsia blazer and floral pencil skirt. “I found this great blouse with a crystal neckline from Haute Hippie, and it went so well with the metallic floral skirt from Kate Spade, but we thought it needed a bright blazer,” Perez tells Us. Naturally, the designer then custom-made his own short fitted blazer to complete the outfit.

“In keeping with my philosophy, there is no such thing as too much pink, so we accessorized with a pink Chanel bag and pink Manolo Blahnik shoes,” he says. “Since the blouse had such a large detailed neckline, we went subtle with earrings from BaubleBar.”

For the very fall appropriate blue and red plaid peplum dress, Perez added a red leather Reiss belt, teal Salvatore Ferragamo pumps, and Kendra Scott earrings. “Mindy loves plaid, and when I found this red and aqua fabric, I knew I wanted to make a dress out of it,” Perez tells Us of his custom-designed frock with the waist-highlighting peplum.

“In the scene, Niecy Nash, who plays Dr. Jean Fishman, is supposed to make fun of the dress, but in real life she loved it and asked me to make her one,” Perez says.

In this classic mixed-prints ensemble, the inspiration started with a shopping trip. “Mindy had been to the Trina Turk store by her house and loved some pieces, so I bought a lot of the new collection,” Perez tells Us. “When we were trying on the pieces, this outfit matched so well, we just added a J.Crew belt to accentuate her waist and some matching M. Haskell earrings. It was perfection.”

“When you’re in a relationship, there’s more hanging out at home,” Perez tells Us of Mindy and Danny’s nights in. “For those scenes, we have her in sweats that still have that ‘Mindy’ vibe.”

Case in point: The Only Ewe Sweatshirt ($49.99, Modcloth.com) that has an unfortunate meeting with a bottle of wine in the episode.
