We Tried It: The IV Hydrating Therapy Detox Pedicure Used to Cure Hangovers and De-stress

There’s a new rejuvenating pedicure in town and we have Bellacures, the celebrity loved nail spa with clients like Reese Witherspoon, Jessica Alba, Jennifer Garner, Cameron Diaz and Demi Moore to thank for it. The nail salon partnered up with The I.V. Doc, the leading mobile I.V. service, to create the treatment that helps rid the body of unwanted substances caused by stress or a night of over-indulging to create the Detox Pedicure. And luckily for me, the offering came at just the right time ahead of the busy holiday season starting today, November 15.

To help you kick-back and detox, the enhanced pedicure uses a variety of products with activated charcoal, while simultaneously replenishing the body with essential electrolytes through I.V. hydration therapy.

To begin my Dr. Detox Pedi, I was screened by a licensed M.D. from The I.V. Doc to talk about my goals with the experience ranging from aid in recovery from a hangover, flu, jetlag, exercise fatigue, food poisoning, and vitamin boosts for wellness and vitality. (I needed all the vitamin boosts I could get!)

After meeting with the M.D., I was greeted with a Pressed Juicery Charcoal Detox Shot with maple, lemon, ginger, activated charcoal and milk thistle to help remove any toxins from my body.

I then met with a registered nurse at the salon who administered a drip packed with electrolytes and vitamin supplements customized to my needs to rehydrate and rejuvenate the body from the inside out. I went with Vitamin C, multivitamins and Vitamin B12.

And if you’re scared of needles, don’t fret, you can still reap the benefits of the pedicure with the modified “Detox” Pedi consisting of all of the other products, minus the I.V. But luckily for me, I barely even noticed it because my feet relaxed in warm water as the I.V. went into my arm.

The manicurist then added charcoal and sea salt soak to the water to draw out any impurities and left my feet smelling fresh and feeling clean. And it didn’t stop there: an activated charcoal scrub was rubbed all over my legs afterwards to increase and stimulate circulation.

To ensure that the toxins in my body were gone, a charcoal mask was applied to my feet and legs as the manicurist gave me an acupressure massage to hit specific points on my feet that aid in detoxifying and refreshing. She then wrapped my legs in warm bath towels and before I knew it, it was time to remove the I.V. The cold sensation from the fluids felt calming as I was warmed up by the towels and then I was treated to a 10-minute massage where my legs and feet were wiped down with oil and cream.

Next, I chose my shade (a dark red color to get in the spirit) and it came out beautifully. As I sat and let my toes dry, I relaxed and felt like a fresh, new version of myself and lighter with more energy for the next few days.

The “Dr. Detox” Pedi is $275 and the “Detox” Pedi (minus the I.V.) is $75.
