Scream Queens' lead hairstylist, Jennifer Johnson, dished out all the secrets behind the actress' glam hairstyles and bedazzled hair accessories; plus, will Lea Michele's character get a makeover?

There’s plenty to holler about when it comes to Scream Queens—the dark humor, breakneck pace, and custom Chanel suits for the “Chanels,” to name a few! But since the series premiered last week, there’s one thing in particular that the Us beauty team has been dying to see more of: the beyond fabulous hairstyles and accessories.

That’s why we rang up the show’s lead hairstylist, Jennifer Johnson (of Gossip Girl hairstyling and headband-ing fame), to get all the scoop on how she glams the gals—and the potential makeovers to come for the newbies!

“After five years working on Gossip Girl, I think I’m known for creating ‘effortlessly polished’ styles,” Johnson told Us. With credentials like that, “They seem to trust [me] a little more!” she admitted—especially Skyler Samuels (who plays Grace), who was a huge fan of the stylish series. (“She told me, ‘My mom and I used to watch the show and copy the hairstyles!'” Johnson said, laughing.)

The pro hairstylist said that she’ll sometimes take a GG hairstyle and update it for the Scream Queens actresses (including Emma Roberts, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, and Lea Michele). Johnson also said that the ladies will occasionally come in with styling ideas. But more often than not, Johnson dished, “They’re all very trusting,” which gives her room to be creative.

And how does she channel that creativity? With eye-popping hair accessories, a highlight of the series. Replacing Blair’s headbands are the Chanels’ stunning bedazzled hair chains and barrettes, which Johnson revealed she and the team have mostly found at Etsy.com and Ricky’s NYC. And that’s not even to mention Samuels’ chic hat collection or Billie Lourd‘s (who plays Chanel #3) pastel earmuffs (courtesy of Kizmuffs).

Of course, the spooky comedy series from Ryan Murphy does require the girls to be a little more active than your average Gossip Girl, which means Johnson needs products that will keep the ‘dos in place. “The girls are pretty badass—they do most of the stunts themselves! So the hair will inevitably go somewhere,” she told Us. But to keep those strands still as much as possible, the hairstylist revealed she relies on Kerestatse Laque Dentelle Flexible Hold Hairspray.

Finally, when asked if the new pledges—some of whom are admittedly a little more stylish than others—will get to go glam a la Chanel, Johnson dished, “I believe that will be answered in tonight’s episode, so you’ll have to tune in and see!”
