Washington joined fellow expectant moms Emily Blunt and Olivia Wilde, who arrived arm in arm in arm, plus Blake Lively at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. In a cover story for the April 2016 issue of Elle, the 39-year-old opened up about how playing crisis manager Olivia Pope on Scandal prepared her for motherhood. “Even though Olivia Pope has obviously made the decision that she is not a mom,” Washington said, referencing Pope’s choice to get an abortion, “playing her made me feel like I could be a mom. Because she knows there’s always another way — there’s always a way to fix it, there’s always a way to solve it, to win.”
