From an ape to a granny! Heidi Klum wears the most amazing — and outrageous — Halloween costumes each year to her annual bash. Amid the coronavirus pandemic, though, she had to switch to a different approach to celebrate the spooky occasion.
“HERE IT IS 🎃 Normally I’d be hosting my annual Halloween party on Sunday night … but this year things are still looking a little different,” the Making the Cut host captioned an Instagram post in October 2021. “So instead, my family and I want to be the first to wish you a safe and spooky Halloween weekend. #HeidiHalloween2021.”
In the short feature, titled “Heidi Does Halloween 2: Klum’s Day,” there were tombstones in a graveyard for Klum and Kaulitz — who wed in July 2019 — and the large brood recreated various horror movie scenes from Kill Bill, The Shining and Psycho.
One year earlier, the former Project Runway host similarly canceled her annual festivities to comply with social distancing recommendations.
Not only is the soirée one to remember, but so are her costumes. Over the years, she’s donned complex ensembles, dressing up as a flesh-eating alien, Jessica Rabbit, Princess Fiona from Shrek and more.
“By me doing crazy, elaborate outfits as the host, my hope had always been that all my guests would follow. And it’s worked because over the years, people have become increasingly more outrageous with their costumes,” she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2018. “The party has become almost legendary. It’s epic. I feel like my love for Halloween has made other people fall in love with the holiday too.”
She continued, “The majority of guests were not super dressed [up at my first party]. So, after that, I implemented a ‘no costume-no entry’ rule. We quickly taught people that if you don’t come in a costume, you’re not getting in. … The costumes get bigger and better every year. And that’s because guests know they won’t get in unless they bring it.”
