It’s a long story! To “balance the feminine glam of the dress with edgy and fashion-forward hair,” Culpo’s hairstylist Justine Marjan added a Rapunzel of Sweden ponytail hair extension piece that she flatironed with the ghd platinum styler. A dab of TRESemmé shine serum was run through to heighten shine before the pony was secured with a velvet ribbon. Marjan finished the look by spritzing hairspray on a toothbrush and raking bangs into place.
There’s a lot we could say about the Hidden Figures actress’ head-to-toe hit, but beyond the killer Alberta Ferreti classic movie star gown and the wob (*that’s “wavy bob”), the luminous cheeks gave us life. Makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff blended Glossier’s so-new-it’s-not-even-out-yet Cloud Paint Seamless Cheek Color in Dusk along her cheekbones with a brush. (Get on the wait list here.) Sheriff tells Stylish: “the look was inspired by old Hollywood and Diahann Carroll — very glamorous and Jessica Rabbit-sexy."
One hot mama! To create the supermodel’s updo, hair hero Jen Atkin prepped damp hair with Ouai Wave Spray from the mid-length through ends and Christophe Robin Volumizing Mist at roots, then blow-dried with the Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer, lifting at the hairline. Once hair was dry, Atkin twisted it into a loose chignon and pinned, letting hair fall around the face naturally.
She’s done it again! Best Supporting Actress winner Viola Davis always redefines the neutral nail, rocking copper at the Golden Globes and now showing off an update on last season’s greige nails with a “lavish smoky taupe” as described by her manicurist Julie Kandalec. The shade was achieved with two coates of Essie’s Mink Muffs.
Now that’s a starlet! The Hidden Figures co-star stunned us in an undone updo (that stylist Adir Abergel wanted to feel “effortlessly French” inspired) and that old beauty chestnut — black rimmed lids and bold cherry lips. Makeup artist Jillian Dempsey lined Dunst’s upper and lower lash lines in Chantecaille’s Luster Glide Eyeliner in Black Forest and painted an opaque layer of the brand’s lipstick in Cerise.
Girl Crush alert! We’re officially obsessed with Sofia Boutella’s style including her full crop of bangs. After blow-drying mousse-fortified hair with a large round brush to add lift and volume from the crown, mane man Renato Campora spritzed on a touch of Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine to add gloss.
Chic overload! “I wanted to find the perfect matte lip to match her [ruby] jewelry,” says the Loving nominee’s makeup artist Mélanie Inglessis. For matte lips that wouldn’t crack, Inglessis prepped lips with balm, letting it absorb before taking it off just before applying lip color. She then lined and filled in Negga’s pout with red lipliner, then topped it with Chanel Rouge Allure Ink in Expérimenté. Once lips were done, Inglessis used her ring finger to press a bit more of the liquid lip color into Ruth's lips for a melt-in effect.
Screen siren! With her strawberry blonde hair, creamy skin and that “timeless matte bombshell red carpet lip,” as makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury described it, the Scream Queen’s actress rocked our world. Tilbury tells Stylish she exaggerated Roberts’ natural lip line with her Kiss ’N’ Tell Lip Cheat lip liner then topped it with Matte Revolution lipstick in Red Carpet Red for “the ultimate blue-red matte lip.” As a complement, Tilbury used her Bronzed Garnet eye pencil to create a softer take on a feline flick.
The Hidden Figures (and Moonlight!) actress stole the show in a Jennifer Behr Artemisia Crown atop her glossy pixie cut that framed her face beautifully. The ornate headband isn’t out yet, but it’s available for pre-order at jenniferbehr.com!
Good as gold. As the La La Land actress accepted her Oscar for Best Actress in a Motion Picture, all we could see were her twinkling golden lids with glitter fallout that made her makeup look at once sophisticated and cool, undone and drop dead sexy. Stone’s longtime makeup pro (and BFF) Rachel Goodwin shaded lids with NARS Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow in Himalia, almost the exact color of her amazing Givenchy gown.
