Born June 8, 1977 in Atlanta, Ga., Kanye West and his mother, Donda West, relocated to Chicago, Ill., when he was three, following his parents' divorce. West got his music career start as a producer.
In 2004, his debut album The College Dropout, was a turning point for West and he began to be more recognized by the industry as an artist. West has released two more albums since 2004, both of which kept him in the limelight. He is also notorious for his outlandish temper tantrums against the industry.
West keeps very mum on his personal life, but ended his engagement to long-time designer girlfriend, Alexis Phifer, in April 2008. Currently engaged to Kim Kardashian, West welcomed a daughter, North West, on June 15, 2013.
