Another Kardashian in kornrows. Kim Kardashian sported braids while out to dinner at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills on Thursday, August 4.
The Selfish author, 35, had her hair plaited Dutch-style into three large rows with skinny rows in between. Tiny golden hoops were interspersed throughout the ‘do. The style topped off an outfit that included an oversized Yeezy tee, thigh-high lace-up heels and a black Birkin bag.
Kardashian posted video after video on Snapchat of the braids, sometimes incorporating a filter that gives users a bobblehead with purple lipstick and rainbow cheek tattoos. “Why do I love this one so much, I think this is my favorite,” she said of the lens while wearing the hairdo.
She then gave a shout-out to the person behind the style, celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton. “Yesss Chris Appleton,” she captioned a profile shot of the cornrows. The L.A.-based pro is also responsible for Kardashian’s sleek, straight lob wig, which she wore for her youngest sister Kylie Jenner‘s birthday bash at The Nice Guy on Sunday, July 31.
The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star isn’t the only member of her famous family to sport multiple braids. Khloé Kardashian frequently experiments with the style; just five days prior, the Strong Looks Better Naked author rocked boxer braids with purple extensions for extra flair. And Jenner first donned the ‘do a year earlier when she captioned a controversial Instagram pic, “I woke up like disss.”
The Kylie Cosmetics creator, 18, got slammed by commenters after showing off the hairdo. Most notably, she received backlash from Hunger Games actress Amandla Stenberg. “When u appropriate black features and culture but fail to use ur position of power to help black Americans by directing attention towards ur wigs instead of police brutality or racism #whitegirlsdoitbetter,” Stenberg, now 17, commented on the photo at the time.
Jenner snapped back, “@amandlastenberg Mad if I don’t, Mad if I do…. Go hang w Jaden or something,” referencing their mutual pal Jaden Smith, with whom Stenberg attended prom. One month later, Jenner sported the style again on her August 2015 birthday trip to Mexico.
