Your biggest beauty questions—answered!

Google just released its annual roundup of the most searched items of 2014. Right at the top of the beauty questions list: How to get red of acne, how to diminish stretch marks, and "How often should I wash my hair, anyway?"

The top queries are as old as time, but that doesn't mean that they're any less tricky to tackle. That's why we turned to dermatologist Dr. Francesca Fusco, who broke down each of the top three question for Us Weekly. Fear not—there are fixes!

Zits, Be Gone!

When it comes to getting rid of acne, the first step requires a trip to the fridge. "First, reduce the high glycemic foods (aka the sugary stuff) from your diet," the skin pro tells Us. Next, get a retinoid application to use at night—this will prevent pimples and unclog pores. (Fusco recommends Philosophy Miracle Worker Anti-Aging Retinoid Pads.)

As for a quick fix—for the days you get a big zit and have a big meeting—here are the doctor's orders: "For a huge red pimple, use a warm compress for three minutes. Then, apply a dollop of hydrocortisone cream, which will reduce the redness and shrink it," she says.

Stretch Marks Reversed

If you're pregnant, it's always good to attempt to prevent stretch marks before your baby bump blooms (via cocoa butter cream, for instance). But Dr. Fusco says that even post-baby—or a big weight loss—you can treat the marks, and the sooner you get to your dermatologist, the better. "You have to do a one-two punch with retinoids (Skinceuticals super-strength 1% or prescription-strength retinol), plus a fractioned laser treatment," she says.

For Duchess Kate-Worthy Hair…

It's true! The trick to a luscious mane, Fusco reveals, is to not wash your hair too often. "How often you shampoo is truly a matter of personal preference," the doctor, who works with Clear Scalp & Hair, believes. Nevertheless, she adds, "You should make sure to cleanse the scalp at least twice a week to help you avoid excessive oil and product buildup."
