He's taking on the Tonys.
Last year Bret Michaels nearly died of a brain hemorrhage, and now the singer is claiming the life-threatening condition resulted from an injury during his 2009 performance at the Tony Awards.
On Friday, Michaels, 48, filed a law-suit in L.A. County Superior Court against Tony Award Productions, CBS, and others for unspecified damages, reports TMZ.com.
In the complaint the Rock of Love star says producers did not instruct him how to properly exit the stage and he was "smacked" in the head by a piece of the set.

Immediately following the show, Michaels was treated for a broken nose and cut lip, but says that the brain injury six months later was a direct result of the incident.
States the suit: "One of the most common causes of this type of hemorrhage is head trauma -- exactly like the one Michaels suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards."

While Michaels spent the last year in and out of the hospital, there was at least one positive result. The reality star told Us Weekly it brought him and fiance Kristi Gibson closer together.
Said Michaels, "She's the one who put up with me all these years!"

16I doubt this is a contentious lawsuit - the Tony Awards probably saw it coming. You can't claim these things until you see what kind of damage is done, which can take a looong time. The only issue I have is his "this brought my girlfriend and I closer"... perhaps you shouldn't have slept with Tish Cyrus then??? Hmmm...
First of all it was not intentional, it was an accident so he is suing an insurance company not an actual person. That is what insurance is for first they will fight him and then they will settle to get it out of the public eye..
David Klaren is the ONLY one of you who makes sense. If you know anything, you know Bret was smacked roughly in the head unexpectedgly - they DO practice these things before taping, you know - by a part of the stage that malfunctioned and/or wasn't properly monitored during the show. Not all brain injuries are instantaneous. It sometimes takes a while for the results to show up. DUH. I agree with and support Bret (that ONE "t", you dorks) in his lawsuits.
Did none of you guys see what happened? The producers lowered part of the stage as he was going back and it smacked him.
What's the matter Brett? Playing at motorcycle rally's and that dumb reality love show not bringing in enough money for ya?! Now you have to resort to this???
I've been walking for a while now you pit one foot infront of the other, now he'll know how to exit a stage
Kinda late, isn't it? And I don't think I'd want a man I'd have to "put up with" for years.
"suffered at the hands of the Tony Awards" lolol is that a new gang? and he had prior medical issues as well, stupid.
Are you kidding me? I'm glad his health has improved, but this is ridiculous. It's called watching where you're going.
He should be grateful he is alive. Gimme a break.
What a shame hhhe feels he needs to sue for an accident... doesn't he have money?
"Did not instruct him how to properly exit the stage?" Ummmm...how many ways are there to do that? I feel bad for the guy and everything he's been through, but come on!
brett come on...
well who didnt see that coming??
poor guy, he is probably broke and wants money and attention
Desperate for money there Bret?
