"After a recent back surgery, Mr. Reynolds felt like he was going through hell and after a while, realized he was a prisoner of prescription pain pills," his manager said in a statement Wednesday. "He checked himself into rehab in order to regain control of his life."
His manager added: "Mr. Reynolds hopes his story will help others in a similar situation. He hopes they will not try to solve the problem by themselves, but realize that sometimes it is too tough to do on their own and they should seek help, as he did."

15Pain pills certainly can be addictive. Kudos to Burt for getting help before it's too late. He's quite a dapper looking man for being 73. Looks like money can buy you some health. More power to him, I guess.
Good luck to Burt!! We still love ya
Who CARES? He's a rug-wearing has-been.
at least he had his days of fame Jeff
I guess this one way to get your name back in the headlines Burt. Face it old man, your days of fame are over.
Best of luck Burt. Great advice!
His condition must have been pretty chronic. I've had episodes of chronic back pain and it is no joke--it's dibilitating, causes sleep deprivation and horrible fatigue. Some of the pain medication is pretty strong and addictive to the point that you have to be "weened" off of it. Good for him that he realizes that he needs the help and is getting it instead of becoming a junkie like so many do. Good luck Burt.
Well, Burt Reynolds still kicks ass!
hummmmm anyone here is in shock about this??? Not Meeee..........that's hollywood for yah........
I hope he gets better and enjoys life to the fullest for the rest of his days.
He is always complaining of some kind of pain. I think it is all in his head!
Good Luck, God Bless
May you find the strength to overcome!
Good luck Burt! Hope you get out of rehab and right into a new movie. We miss you.
