Jessica and Eric Celebrate Their Engagement

Less than a week after Us Weekly exclusively broke the news of their engagement, Jessica Simpson, 30, and Eric Johnson, 31, celebrated with friends and family at a party on Thursday night.

About 40 to 50 people, including a few NFL players, gathered at the California home of Simpson's parents, Joe and Tina. Guests were served hamburger and veggie burger sliders, chicken skewers, mini pizzas, shrimp, and for dessert, mini cupcakes.

"They were very happy," a friend of Jessica's tells UsMagazine.com. "It was the first time they had seen a lot of their friends since the engagement. She was excited to see her girlfriends."
The couple began dating in June, when Johnson was separated from his wife of five years, Keri. (His divorce was finalized October 7.) Simpson split from ex-husband Nick Lachey, 37, in 2005.

Up next for the twosome is a trip to NYC, where Simpson is scheduled to perform during Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade.

15From what i heard the ring was dated 1910, so with that said, it must be very sentimental.
I don't mean to be disrespectful, but I think Jessica Simpson's engagement ring from Eric Johnson is HIDEOUS! I am sure it's a matter of personal taste, but I don't like the gold, nor do I like the fact that there is a ruby with two diamonds that appear to be jammed up against the ruby on either side. I am happy for Jessica, but I just don't get this ring....I looks like a ring I could buy at Stein Mart for $150.
Whoa! This topic seems to bring out a lot of bile and hate. Is that shoe fitting just a little too tightly, maybe? All I have to say is, wouldn't it be nice if this couple just woke up tomorrow and decided to see how a couple years of being engaged worked-out? IMHO the [true] marriage meter starts running after the 2-year mark. Just sayin'.
She is nothing more than a train wreck and has to have a man in her life. No one knows anyone after only dating for 6 months. Some times it does work but most of the time it doesn't. You don't even know the person. She just can't be with herself. Too needy and what does this guy do anyway?
Jessica IS fat, desperate, and needy. That is a fact. Why call someone out who states it? And anyone who says that those who post about celebrities need to get a life of their own...well, you're posting on here, too!

Sandra Day, it's funny how you say Jessica to get a life, FYI. the woman has a life and a very nice one, she is very successful, who has her own fashion line on clothes, shoes, perfume etc. sold many of her music and even acted. Overall, maybe she's not the best singer/actor out there but she has tremendous amount of success and that shoes how she does have a life. it's funny because you are wasting your time making comments about her life. At the end, it's no one's business who she dates or choses to marry. i think those who use their time to comment a lot about celebrities should get a life of their own and worry about their own things. I hope this guy can prove everyone wrong, that he's not a jerk like the other guys who were in her life, except Nick. still think they are meant to be..but oh well.
