Camila Alves Reveals She Had a “Really Tough Pregnancy” With Son Livingston, Needed a C-Section

Camila Alves' third pregnancy was by far her most difficult, the 31-year-old model and fashion designer revealed on The View March 13. The Brazilian beauty — already mom to son Levi, 4, and daughter Vida, 3, with husband Matthew McConaugheywelcomed her third child, son Livingston, in December 2012.

"This time around it has been a really tough recovery. I had a really tough pregnancy. I had all kind of things happen," Alves shared. "Throughout the whole pregnancy I had really strong pains and I kept telling the doctors. We kept trying to figure out what it was, what was happening. Nobody could figure out what it was. So, we ended up having to do a C-section. I told the doctor right before, 'Once I'm there, just take a look because I know something's wrong.' They ended up finding all kinds of things in there that we had to take care of."

Alves added, "This recovery has been extremely hard because I had a C-section and then I had all these extra procedures." The former Sheer Genius host did not elaborate on her medical diagnosis, though she did say her recovery has prevented her from exercising.

"I can't even pick up my kids, really. I really have to be careful," she explained. "I've got another four weeks to go."

Because doctors advised her to take it easy, Alves was forced to find alternative ways to lose weight. "I had to learning about the eating, the diet, how you do it," said the star, who added that she breastfeeds her newborn. "It's hard to have dairy when you're trying to lose weight."
