Katie Holmes: I Don't Think I'll Have Another Baby
Sorry, Suri -- looks like you might not get the chance to be a big sister after all.
In the October issue of Marie Claire, Katie Holmes reveals that she and Tom Cruise have no plans to expand their brood -- at least not now, anyway.

"Maybe in a couple of years, but right now I want to make sure I'm really there for Suri," Holmes, 31, says. "I'm the youngest in my family —- my closest sister is five years older than me, and the next one is nine years ahead of me, so I was a bit of an only child, and I liked it! I liked having all of my mom's attention, and sometimes I think I still do."
Holmes admits it's been hard to strike a balance between her career and motherhood, though she does her best to provide a normal life for her 4-year-old tot.

"We travel a lot, and so for me, it's keeping a daily schedule for Suri that never changes. We wake up and we do the same thing. She does her chores," she tells the mag. "If she doesn't get her chores done, I notice she's not really herself. She has to make her bed, she has to take her dishes to the sink, she has to put her clothes in the laundry -- you know, that basic stuff."

The Romantics actress -- who admits that she's never spent more than a week-and-a-half without seeing Cruise, 48 -- says she learned her parenting philosophies from watching her own mother in action.
"I try to do what my mom did for me...just spending time with her, making doll clothes and planting in the garden," Holmes says. "When Suri comes to the set, we have art projects, and I just try to keep her busy and inspired."

She was critisized for having a baby, she is critisized for not having more? What the heck people... aren't we all glad we don't have our lives out in the public eye.
Maybe we should stay out of her uterus. It's her biz if she never wanted a child or if she wanted 10. Based on observation, she seems to be a good Mom. Suri has 2 big sibs who seem to luv her & saying only kids are spoiled is generalizing. As long as she teaches morals, values & ethics, Suri will be just fine.
I just read all of your comments and I think all but 3-4 of you are really dumb. The reasons given here on why she should have another child are all bad ideas. Also, Elda and Diane, maybe Katie is happy with the level of success she has achieved. What makes you think she is trying to become the worlds biggest star?
Tom's first Wife Mimi never wanted kids. he and Nicole tried to have natural kids but she had an ectopic pregnancy and a miscarriage. Katie isn't a huge star and never will be.
US took the title out of context. She didn't say she didn't want more babies with him. In a few years, doesn't mean never.
wonder y tom never had biological kids with nicole or his lst wife. i read at 1 time suri was not toms baby. i just wonder strange you would only want 1 child by this man u love so much (just a thought)
I never said she wasn't entitled to her own ideas on how many children she wants. but that she was irresponsible to say it so openly in a magazine interview. she could've said no comment or passed on the question like any uncomfortable subjects get passed on in interviews. granted she probably isn't a big enough star to actually get away with that. as for example a Joanne Woodward or Vanessa Redgrave type star can. if Katie ever had a miscarriage like both of them did she and Tom would be forced to talk about it at Nauseum but the two oscar winning actresses mentioned above either came out and talked about it when they were comfortable with it or haven't all together even 50+ years later. though friends of theirs have in different books and things of that nature.
I think it is her right to have 1 or 4 kids. And I am loving the fact that Suri has chores. Good job Katie!

Katie's teaching her responsibilty by doing chores, but the kid doesn't even walk yet! Go figure!

sounds like a little jealousy goin on there courtney.whos bussiness how many kids she has.....shes not a wanna be maybe u r......shes gorgeous w/ her hair done and makeup......im not crazy about her but its her choice how many kids she has......not yours or any one elses......
what's Katie an idoit she's been there for Suri for 4 years. waiting too long makes it more dangerous for her to have more children. obviously she wants that spoiled little brat to be an only child. if anything ever happened to Suri she'd regret her ways instantly plenty of bigger stars have had multiple children and still had fruitful careers.Katie is a wannabe that never will be why don't we quit paying attention to her.
