Penelope Cruz and her brother Eduardo visit their sister Monica at the hospital in Madrid on May 14.

Penelope Cruz joined by husband Javier Bardem, brother Eduardo and mom Encarna, paid sister Monica a visit at a Madrid hospital on Tuesday, May 14, to check up on her — and presumably to say hello to her new niece.

Penelope, 38, dressed down for the visit, wearing a loose gray T-shirt over her large baby bump, casual jeans and flat-heeled boots for the outing. The makeup-free star also wore her hair up in a top knot to complete the fuss-free look.

Penelope and Bardem, 43, are already parents to son Leonardo, 2, whom they welcomed back in January 2011, just six months after the happy couple tied the knot at a friend's home in the Bahamas. They confirmed their second round of baby news in February.

"From the first second, you feel so much love," she explained of motherhood in an interview for Vogue's June 2011 issue. "It is a revolutionary experience. That's the best way I can describe it. It transforms you completely, in a second. Nature is very wise and gives you nine months to prepare, but in that moment, when you see that face, you are transformed forever."

Monica, a Spanish model who is partnering with Penelope on a lingerie line set to debut in August, took to her blog earlier this year to reveal that she was pregnant via an anonymous sperm donor.

"I am going to be a mother! I have managed to fulfill the dream of a lifetime," the 36-year-old single mom blogged in January. "To become pregnant, I turned to artificial insemination … I want to tell, also, so I can have the opportunity to show my thanks to all those anonymous men that give many women like me, the dream of their lives."
