How topical! Courtney Love has inspired her share of headlines before as the edgy, hard-living lead singer for band Hole and as the widow of Nirvana's Kurt Cobain, so the rocker couldn't resist weighing in on a few of today's biggest female pop stars during a performance in NYC on Monday, Sept. 9.
"I liked Miley, frankly," she told the crowd between songs, according to The New York Post, in reference to the "Wrecking Ball" singer's much-talked about MTV VMA performance. "I'm gonna be honest, Katy Perry bores the [bleep] out of me. She's a nice girl, she just really bores me. You know, that hillbilly Miley Cyrus is sort of punk in a weird sex way."
Love, 49, expanded upon her comments after the show, telling The Post that Cyrus' controversial performance, in which she twerked lasciviously and stuck a foam finger between her legs, was "openly sexual" -- but not necessarily in a bad way.
"[Perry] bores me. [Miley] was at least kind of punk rock, you know?" she said of the former Disney star, now 20. "It was openly sexual … like dark and hillbilly and [bleeped] up."
This isn't the first time that Love has weighed in on the behavior of some of Hollywood's most talked-about young starlets. In May, the singer tweeted some advice to one-time Nickelodeon darling Amanda Bynes.
"Amanda Bynes pull it together dude," she wrote on the social media site. Bynes, 27, didn't take too kindly to Love's unsolicited advice, however.
"Courtney Love is the ugliest woman I've ever seen," Bynes responded. "To be mentioned by her at all makes me and all my friends laugh!"
