The Florida native required multiple surgeries because of the accident, and will continue to nurse thumb fractures in the coming weeks. According to ESPN, Pierre-Paul is still expected to be able take the field when the NFL season starts again in September.

As Pierre-Paul recovers from his injuries, he may find a sympathizer in Tampa Bay Buccaneers player Wilson. The cornerback reportedly lost two fingers after his own fireworks accident over the holiday weekend.
