Damon Dash is weighing in on Solange Knowles and Jay Z‘s apparent elevator brawl. The 43-year-old entrepreneur, a former business partner of Jay’s, took to his Instagram on May 12 and called Beyonce‘s sister a “fighter.”
Dash, who founded Roc-a-Fella Records with Jay Z back in 1999 before the duo had a falling out, posted a picture of himself with Solange and the caption: “Forgot about this one @ava_dash @atrak and solange …I am actually impressed with her independent spirit… She seems like a fighter #festivallife.”
The mogul’s post came on the same day TMZ posted footage of Beyonce’s younger sister trying to kick and hit Jay Z in an elevator at a Met Gala after party at the Boom Boom Room in NYC.
Although the exact reason Solange flew off the handle is yet to be determined, a source told Us Weekly the “Losing You” singer previously had an altercation with Dash’s ex-wife Rachel Roy earlier in the evening.
The source said that the 27-year-old had yelled at the designer earlier at the after party and during the disagreement Beyonce “got in the middle of it.”
Dash married Roy in 2005; they divorced in 2009.
