The wife of Jeremy Meeks, the handsome convicted felon whose mugshot went viral last week, is not amused by all the excitement surrounding her husband's ridiculously good looks, a friend of the family told Sacramento CBS affiliate CBS13.
"I wouldn’t be surprised if you don’t see her at all in the cameras, because she’s upset," Simone Johnson, a friend of Meeks' wife, told CBS13. "She’s furious. Her man is in there and people are taking it as a joke, thinking it’s funny talking about his looks, saying all kinds of crazy things."
Meeks, 30, who was arrested with four other men on June 18 during a joint law enforcement gang sweep, was arraigned on 11 felony counts related to firearm possession, street gang membership, and violating his probation on June 20. His bail has been set at $1 million.
The good-looking felon, father to a 3-year-old son, spoke out from jail for the first time since his mugshot went viral in an interview with ABC's local affiliate in Sacramento, Calif., on June 19. "Well I appreciate [the attention]," the 30-year-old said, "But I just want them to know that this is really not me, I'm not some kingpin."
Although the Internet loves Meeks for his model-worthy looks, Stockton PD spokesperson Joseph Silva painted a different picture of Meeks to the Associated Press, saying he's "one of the most violent criminals in the Stockton area."
Meeks' arraignment continues on June 27.
