Jimmy Kimmel Takes on Donald Trump, Says His Views Are “Un-American and Wrong”

Saying it how it is. Jimmy Kimmel invited presidential hopeful Donald Trump onto his show on Wednesday, December 16 — and gave the real-estate magnate a grilling on his controversial immigration and anti-Muslim views.

The television appearance, which was rescheduled after Trump pulled out of a prior scheduled appearance, gave the GOP candidate a chance to explain some of his more outrageous policies.

But while Trump insisted he had the support of the Hispanic and Muslim populations for his radical stances on immigration, Kimmel stood strong in his disapproval.

“Did anyone try to talk you out of saying we should temporarily ban Muslims?” an incredulous Kimmel questioned.

“I have a lot of friends who are Muslims,” Trump responded. “And some of them, not all of them, many of them called me and said, ‘You know Donald you’re right, we have a problem.'”

“Those may have been crank calls,” Kimmel responded, getting Trump slightly hot under the collar. “Did you check their Caller ID?” he added, before challenging the big-haired politico further, suggesting that banning all Muslims from visiting Disneyland might just help ISIS in its recruitment drive.

“I don’t buy it,” Trump replied, defiantly.

Next on the agenda was illegal immigration. Kimmel used his coworker Guillermo Rodriguez as an example.

“Guillermo came here illegally,” Kimmel started. “Thank God he went through the process, I mean first of all he’s adorable,” the show host continued. “But don’t we want people who want to be here so badly that they will risk everything to be in America?”

“Well it is true, and I have thousands of Hispanics who have worked for me over the years,” responded Trump. “They’re unbelievable people. What I’m saying is they have to come in through a legal process. We talk about the wall, we’re going to have a big beautiful door [in the wall], we want people to come in legally,” he continued.

In addition to hitting Trump hard on his more controversial policies, Kimmel also got the politician to admit to having been “a little bit divisive” in the Republican party.

“Ultimately, I would like to come together and get this thing done,” he added.
