Vice President Joe Biden met with VP-elect Mike Pence at the Naval Observatory on Wednesday, November 16. According to CNN, Biden extended Pence and POTUS-elect Donald Trump’s administration an olive branch.
After meeting with the Indiana governor, Biden joked that he would be available to Pence as “senior staff.”
“You can be smart and reject most of my ideas, but I think he will listen to some of them,” Biden added, confirming that he told Pence he would be available to him 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The politicians’ wives, second lady Jill Biden and Karen Pence, were also in attendance. The couples previously met at the White House on November 10 when President Barack Obama met Trump.
Pence declined to share his biggest concerns about moving to Washington during their meeting on Wednesday, but thanked Biden for taking the time to meet with them.
“We are just very grateful for the hospitality today, for the vice president and the second lady,” Pence said. “Most importantly, I think they made real progress in talking Mrs. Pence into a new dog.”
Jokes aside, Biden, who vocally dismissed Pence’s and Trump’s views throughout their divisive campaign, offered them support during the transition to power.
“No administration is ready on day one,” the likable VP stated. “We weren’t ready on day one.”
