There will be no happily ever after for Johnny Weir and Victor Voronov. Despite rumors to the contrary, the famed figure skater and his estranged husband are not reconciling, Voronov tells Us Weekly exclusively.
"The divorce is 100 percent still happening," he says, adding, "Johnny's meddling mother [Pamela] was definitely the source of the breakdown of our marriage."
A source close to the couple, meanwhile, tells Us that Voronov is "heartbroken" over the split but trying to "live his life" and move on. "Victor is doing okay," the insider says. "Victor and Johnny spoke two days ago. When this first started, Victor didn't think it was really over. Victor was duped, and now he feels like an idiot."
Earlier this week, TMZ alleged that Weir and Voronov had decided to call off the split and give their two-year marriage another go — under several conditions. According to the site, the two came up with documents stipulating various rules for their reunion, including no sexting, no "aggressive flirting," and no use of Grindr or other dating sites. The papers also allegedly stated that Weir had to keep his mom from interfering in their relationship and financial affairs.
The reconciliation rumors followed a month of dramatic headlines and shocking back-and-forth claims about domestic violence and infidelity, among other things. They first announced their split in mid-March, after Weir returned from Sochi, Russia, where he was covering the Winter Olympics.
"It is with great sadness that I announce that my husband and I are no longer together," the athlete tweeted at the time. "My heart hurts, and I wish him well."
