Yay! Kelly Clarkson has finally found someone to duet with — and the result was truly awesome!
The former American Idol winner was bemoaning the fact that she struggled to find artists willing to collaborate with her during a recent interview with BBC Radio 1.
"I honestly would collaborate with a lot of people, but everyone usually says no," the Grammy-winning singer, 32, told host Nick Grimshaw. "I'm not kidding you. I have asked several people... Sometimes I feel like I have the plague, or leprosy, they're like, 'If you get too close...' I don't know."
But on the Monday, March 2 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Clarkson's duet drought ended! Introducing his guest star, Fallon referred to the new mom's recent interview and told his audience he couldn't understand what the problem was.
"I was actually reading a piece last week that she was having trouble finding people to do a duet with. I would love to do a duet with Kelly Clarkson!" he announced.
"Did someone say duet?" said an eager-looking Clarkson as she burst onto the set.
The musical collaboration that followed was certainly worth the wait! The tuneful pair belted out a host of duet classics, including Sonny and Cher‘s “I Got You Babe,” Human League‘s “Don’t You Want Me" and Elton John‘s “Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.”
But it was the grand finale, when Fallon put on an Aaron Neville beret (and trademark mole) for a stunningly accurate rendition of his song "Don't Know Much," and the subsequent high tempo rendition of Paula Abdul‘s “Opposites Attract,” that really brought the house down!
