Gaga's No. 1 fan. Kesha took to Instagram to publicly thank her pal Lady Gaga and Vice President Joe Biden for highlighting the topic of sexual assault during Gaga's musical performance on Sunday, February 28, at the 88th annual Academy Awards.

The singer, currently embroiled in a legal battle against producer Dr. Luke, who she claims has mentally and sexually abused her over the past decade, was moved by Gaga's raw performance at the Oscars 2016, and wanted to make her feelings known.

"Thank u @ladygaga and VP @JoeBiden for bringing attention to sexual assault at the oscars. it hit very close to my heart for obvious reasons,” she wrote.

Biden, who introduced Gaga's performance at the star-studded event held in Los Angeles' Dolby Theatre, urged attendees and viewers of the awards show to "take the pledge" to end campus sexual assault.

The "Born this Way" singer's performance of her best original song–nominated hit, "Till It Happens To You," was cowritten with Dianne Warren for The Hunting Ground, a documentary about campus rape.

Bringing abuse survivors onto the stage behind her, Gaga and Biden encouraged viewers to sign up to the White House's "It's on Us" campaign against sexual assault.

Lady Gaga has been a vocal supporter of Kesha as her court case against Dr. Luke continues, sharing photographs of the two of them together via social media.

“What happened to Kesha has happened to many female artists including myself,” the 29-year-old singer wrote in a comment on one of her photographs with Kesha. “It will affect her for the rest of her life.”

But Gaga had a wonderfully positive message of her own that she wanted to share via Instagram during the Oscar broadcast, and it was one of hope for all fellow survivors of abuse.

Posting a photograph of herself and fiancé Taylor Kinney, Gaga captioned the picture: “I never thought anyone would ever love me because I felt like I was ruined by my abuser. But he loves the survivor in me. He stood by me all night proud and unashamedly. THAT’S a real man.”
