“I had a wonderful, beautiful life with Robert. He was just an amazing man,” she said in her cover story for Harper’s Bazaar

And though she called Bruce the love of her life in her 2011 memoir, she told the magazine that during the Olympian’s transition she desperately wanted to call Kardashian for what the interviewer described as “a solid shoulder to lean, or maybe, cry on.”

“I always wish I could call Robert right now,” said Kris, who noted that divorcing her lawyer ex was her only regret in life. “That’s an everyday thing.”

Kardashian’s name has been making headlines again more than a decade after he passed away from cancer in 2003. He is being portrayed by David Schwimmer in the acclaimed FX miniseries The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story, while Kris is being played by Selma Blair.

Kris was married to Kardashian from 1978 to 1991, until they split after she was unfaithful to him. They shared Kourtney, Kim, Khoe and Rob Kardashian. She wed Bruce in 1991 and they separated in late 2013 before finalizing their divorce in 2014. They share daughters Kendall and Kylie Jenner.

She noted that she found out about Caitlyn’s transition “the same time as everybody. … We were already divorced. And what are you going to do? You have to just be there. And you have to accept that everyone is going to have something.”

Caitlyn, 66, first publicly spoke about her transition during a historic interview with Diane Sawyer in April 2015 and debuted herself on the cover of Vanity Fair’s July 2015 issue.
