Leah Messer Gets Emotional Talking About Rehab With Steve Harvey: Watch

Tough talks. Teen Mom 2 star Leah Messer got emotional while talking about her stint in rehab during an interview with Steve Harvey.

“It took me quite some time to know whether I was gonna go or not,” Messer, 23, explained to the TV host in an interview airing on Monday, April 18. “I’m from West Virginia, and everyone that I was around didn’t quite support me going away. They didn’t think it was good.”

She continued, with tears in her eyes, “I knew I was suffering from something. I didn’t know what it was. I just knew that I was suffering and I needed help.”

The mom of three daughters (twins Aliannah and Aleeah, 6, and Adalynn, 3) entered a treatment center for a 30-day program last summer, amid accusations of drug problems. Her decision to seek help was documented on season 6 of the MTV series.

Messer explained that she was on the “anxiety and depression track” during her stay in rehab, noting, “Not even six months ago, I probably never would’ve seen what I see now … in terms of how stressful it was, and painful. Doing it the right way and being able to have that platform to teach girls to do it the right way, that’s what matters to me.”
