There's about to be a little more love in the Love and Theft family.
Eric Gunderson, one half of the CMA-nominated country duo Love and Theft, is going to be a father, he told Taste of Country.
The musician and his wife, Emily, are expecting a child together on May 18. It will be the first little bundle of joy for the couple, who married in April 2010.
"I'm pretty excited," the proud poppa-to-be revealed. "I've wanted to be a father forever, and now I feel like we're in a place in our career where it won't be the most nerve-wracking thing ever. I feel like I can support a family now. It will be good."
It would be even better, he added, if the baby were a boy. "Obviously, I’m just hoping for a healthy baby," the "Angel Eyes" singer said. "But I was the oldest in my family and I was a boy…I think it was cool for my sister to always have an older brother. I think I'd like to have a boy first and then a little girl, but I'll take whatever I get!"
His wife, who is 13 weeks along and "loving every minute of it," echoed her husband's enthusiasm. "I'm beyond excited to share another journey through life with my best friend and husband," she told Taste of Country. "I pray not only for a healthy baby, but for a baby that is as talented in music as his sweet and handsome father!"
Gunderson and his Love and Theft bandmate, Stephen Barker Liles — rumored to be the subject of Taylor Swift's song "Hey Stephen" — are currently on tour with singer Jake Owen to promote their self-titled second album.
