Miley Cyrus Hosts SNL Season 41 Premiere: Taylor Swift’s Squad, Hillary Clinton, and More Best Sketches

Miley Cyrus on SNL
Miley Cyrus kicked off the Season 41 premiere of Saturday Night Live on Saturday, Oct. 3, with a muppet-inspired outfit and weed jokes.

There’s no denying that Miley Cyrus knows how to bring the pizzazz. On Saturday, Oct. 3, the “Wrecking Ball” singer kicked off Season 41 of Saturday Night Live with a few weed jokes, several muppet-inspired outfits — and Hillary Clinton

The 22-year-old singer, who was hosting the show for her third time, started her monologue by noting that she was on a “seven-second delay” but “not a television delay.”

“It’s just when you smoke as much weed as I do, you’re always on a seven-second delay,” she said. Oh, Miley.

Check out some of the most memorable moments from last night’s show:

The Monologue Montage

Cyrus kept things classy with her opening monologue, crooning whilst a montage of this summer’s biggest — and most ridiculous — newsmakers played in the background. Among them: Rachel Dolezal, the dentist who killed Cecil the Lion, pizza rat, the Entourage movie, Lenny Kravitz’s junk, Ariana Grande’s donut, the Meek Mill/Drake feud, and Jared Fogle, aka Josh Duggar with glasses.

Hillary Clinton Meets Hillary Clinton

In a somewhat pointed take on Jimmy Fallon’s Trump meets Trump, real-life Hillary Clinton came face-to-face with Kate McKinnon’s Hillary Clinton, playing a bartender listening to McKinnon-as-Hillary’s woes. The Democratic frontrunner scoffed at one point and said, in her best Trump imitation, “Isn’t he the one that’s like, ‘Ugggh … you’re all losers!’?”

Taylor Swift’s #Squad

Though Cyrus wasn’t in the skit that’s sure to make its rounds the morning after, Vanessa Bayer and Aidy Bryan slayed it as sorority sisters rendered unconscious for months after a car accident — only to wake up to a zombie-apocalypse world filled with clones of Taylor Swift’s “squad.” Other movie trailers, take note.

Cyrus Gets Emotional

The outspoken singer likes to keep things light and fun, but on Saturday, Cyrus couldn’t stop the tears from flowing as she performed “The Twinkle Song” with the Flaming Lips — whist wearing an outfit made up of hair down to her knees and flowers that barely covered her lady bits.
