For Kate Hudson and Nick Jonas, date nights can be a real drag.
The friends with benefits hung out with female impersonators at NYC gay bar Industry on Oct. 15. While Jonas pal Demi Lovato performed her single “Confident," the “Levels” singer, 23, and the Mother’s Day actress, 36 — who sources say first hooked up in September — grooved along backstage.
“They were dancing very close,” a witness reveals of the pair in the new issue of Us Weekly. “It looked like a romantic date for the two of them.”
Following Lovato’s performance, the duo headed to popular hot spot Up&Down, but a source says they left separately. While Hudson was in New York, "She saw Nick a few times and they had fun,” says a source close to the mom of two.
As Us previously reported, Hudson — whose brother, Oliver, stars on Scream Queens with Jonas — and the former boy band member have been casually hooking up for several weeks. Hudson attended Jonas’ Sept. 9 concert at Terminal 5 in NYC. Two weeks later on Sept. 26, they were spotted at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Orlando, Fla. The next day, they brunched at Cecconi’s in Miami Beach.
Despite their many dates, an insider says they’re both just having fun. “Neither of them wants it to be anything more serious. They are both just having fun with it right now. She's just seeing this as a fun hookup thing for now."

Indeed, Jonas — who split from his girlfriend of two years, Olivia Culpo, in June — told Us Oct. 7 at the Season 2 premiere for his DirecTV drama, Kingdom, that he considers himself unattached: “I’m happy to be single and playing the field.”
