Paris Hilton may look like Barbie, but she has the spirit of Albert Einstein—or so she says in a new interview with the U.K.'s Telegraph. A big believer in astrology, the heiress cited her zodiac sign, Aquarius, as some kind of cosmic link to the late German physicist, who was, according to the calendar, a Pisces, not an Aquarian.
"We are social butterflies, humanitarians, geniuses: Einstein was one," she told the paper.
Poke fun all you want—Hilton doesn't care. "If people want to be mean, that's their problem," she said of her critics. "It used to be really hurtful. I would call and cry to my mom all the time but now I just laugh."
The "Come Alive" singer, 33, has indeed developed quite a thick skin over the years, with so-called friends as well as strangers. "So many people have bad intentions, so many girls want to hang out to be someone," she explained. "I weed those people out of my life. I call them hungry tigers."
She wasn't always so savvy, though. As a teenager, she filmed a sex tape with then-boyfriend Rick Salomon, which went viral in 2004. "It was devastating because that was someone I was with for a few years," she told the Telegraph of the scandal. "I don't think I'll ever be able to fully trust any man again after that. It was just the most hurtful and awful thing that anyone could do to a little girl. I was very young, it wasn't my fault."
These days, she picks and chooses her relationships carefully. For the past couple of years, she's been dating River Viiperi, whom she calls a "really, really sweet guy." Eventually, she hopes to settle down and have a family like the one she had growing up. (She and her parents are still close.)
"I had the most amazing childhood," she said. "My parents have been together since my mom was 15. In Hollywood almost everyone's divorced. My friends would come to my house and see this perfect family and I realized how lucky I was. Now, when I'm looking for a guy, I'm always thinking of someone who is like my dad: a loyal person with a good heart, because that's all that matters in life."
