Her Majesty tweets too! Queen Elizabeth II showed her appreciation for the good wishes she received on her 90th birthday with a very proper thank-you message.
“I am most grateful for the many digital messages of goodwill I have received and would like to thank you all for your kindness. Elizabeth R.,” she posted via Twitter on Tuesday, June 21.
The Twitterverse went wild immediately after the message was shared. Several social media users replied, “Yas, Queen!” with countless GIFs and memes.
The Queen’s 90th birthday was on April 21, but she recently celebrated the milestone with a weekend full of festivities, including the annual Trooping the Colour ceremony at Horse Guards Parade in London on June 11.
The Royal Family’s Twitter account also shared a photo of the monarch sitting at her desk at Berkshire’s Windsor Castle, typing out the elegant tweet on an iPad.
“The Queen has tweeted to thank all who have sent messages of goodwill on social media for her Birthday #Queenat90,” the account captioned the pic.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Her Royal Highness celebrated her 90th birthday in style. Clad in a lime-green coat by Stewart Parvin, which she paired with a matching hat by Rachel Trevor Morgan, Queen Elizabeth greeted a large crowd from the Buckingham Palace balcony with her husband of 68 years, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, on June 11. The royal pair were joined by Prince William, Duchess Kate Middleton, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Harry, Prince Charles and more.
“I am incredibly lucky to have my grandmother in my life,” Prince William said at an Indian garden party celebrating the Queen’s birthday on April 11. “As she turns 90, she is a remarkably energetic and dedicated guiding force for her family. She may be my grandmother, but she is also very much the boss!”
