Rachel McAdams Gets Hugged by Toronto Raptors Mascot After Michael Sheen Split
Rachel McAdams hasn't been single for long, but the Wedding Crashers actress is already being courted . . . on the basketball court. One day before Us Weekly broke the news of McAdams' split with her Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen, the single star received special attention from the Toronto Raptors mascot when the NBA team played the Washington Wizards at the Air Canada Centre on Monday, Feb. 25.
Wearing a sky blue top and dark denim jeans, a beaming McAdams received a hug from the team's mascot. As the crowd cheered, the 34-year-old Ontario native was also given a bouquet of red roses and a plush toy.
McAdams -- known for her roles in hit films like Mean Girls, The Vow and The Family Stone -- hadn't been seen out with Sheen since the fall of 2012. The couple's breakup "was recent," a source says in the March 11 issue of Us Weekly, on stands Friday. The two began dating in 2010 after meeting on the set of Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris. "We became quite good friends, which I think is a good way to start," McAdams has said.
Prior to dating Sheen, 44, McAdams was briefly engaged to her Notebook costar Ryan Gosling until they called things off in 2007. In a June 2011 ELLE cover story, the Hot Chick star -- who was dating Sheen at the time -- said she hoped to find a love like her parents. "I had a great example of love in front of me, and that's probably what makes me such a romantic, because I've seen it firsthand," she told the magazine.
She added, "You grow up and you assume that everyone is like [my parents], and you quickly realize that they're not, and then you have those days when you wonder if you're going to find it for yourself. It's such a hard thing to find. I think it was more that realization that rocked me."
Twilight's Sheen, meanwhile, dated Kate Beckinsale from 1995 to 2003. They are parents to daughter Lily, 14.
