“There are so many things I want you to know about Chris but most importantly you must know how earnestly he pursued the lord, especially in the past year,” the former Disney Channel star, 29, captioned the sweet snap of a photo that appears to be from their wedding, of them dancing together. “No one is perfect in this world and we all have our battles but it's the way we get back on our feet and turn it around that really counts. And he did it.”

Carney and a friend, Ezekiel Blanton, were turning a corner in Hot Springs, Ark., when they lost control of the car and it slammed into a tree. According to the Arkansas State Police, both men were found dead at the scene. Carney, 35, was the former lead singer of the band The Prom Kings and was featured on the MTV show twentyfourseven.

“I am so grateful that Chris and I got to fall in love all over again this past year,” she continued. “He finished writing, directing, producing and editing his first Christian film and he and I got to star in it together as love interests who end up getting married. He was THE BEST father my children could ever have, an incredibly loving and sensitive husband, a wonderful brother and amazing son. He is already so dearly missed.”

Thornton and Carney tied the knot in 2011 at a wedding attended by her Sonny With a Chance costar, Demi Lovato, who also expressed her sadness over Carney’s passing in a Twitter post.

“Thank you for your continued prayers for our family as we grieve the loss of my best friend Chris, the most incredible person I've ever had the blessing of knowing,” Thornton concluded.

Earlier Saturday, the former actress shared another snap of her husband, holding their two children — Kenneth, 3, and Bentley, 21 months.

“My life. My love. My angel,” she captioned the sweet photo.

A memorial service for Carney is set for Monday, Dec. 7, in Arkansas.
