Forecast: hilarious! After giving Matt Lauer the Fifty Shades of Grey treatment last week, Ellen DeGeneres whipped up a sequel featuring his Today show costar Al Roker.
DeGeneres debuted the funny clip on her show on Tuesday, Feb. 17, four days after Fifty Shades' record-breaking opening. "Here's a clip from this morning's Today show," she said by way of introduction. "It's totally real."
Producers then rolled tape on her Photoshopped spoof, which showed Roker doing the weather forecast while rocking red nipple tassels, black leather hot pants, knee-high lace-up boots, and a BDSM bondage harness. At one point during the clip, the fake Roker even picked a wedgie!
DeGeneres did something similar to Lauer on Feb. 12. After the Today co-anchor interviewed Fifty Shades costars Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, the talk show host, 57, debuted an edited version of the chat, with Lauer in leather straps and chains and brandishing a whip and handcuffs.
The clip quickly went viral — but apparently not everyone was in on the joke. "People actually thought you came to work dressed like that or changed at some point into that ensemble," Tamron Hall quipped on air.
"Matt Lauer, I love you. That was just a joke," DeGeneres said on her show. "I'm so sorry. So I want to come clean: We did doctor that a tiny bit."
