Andrew Garfield decided to hang up his Spider-Man costume—at least, for a little while. The British actor went through a complete transformation for the latest music video for Arcade Fire’s “We Exist.”
In the video, Garfield, 30, looks unrecognizable as he dresses in drag and wears a platinum blonde shoulder-length wig. In one scene, the star changes into black lingerie, Daisy Dukes, and shaves his hair. (He debuted the new haircut while promoting The Amazing Spider-Man 2 last month.)
Garfield nervously steps out with his new look and is quickly approached by a male at a town bar. The men dance slowly, but Garfield then gets groped and harassed by a rowdy group. He quickly gets empowered, defends himself, and then has a dance sequence all on his own.
In the next shot, Garfield then heads to Coachella in Indio, Calif. Dressed in a tight-fitted white lace dress and pink eye mask, he triumphantly takes the stage (with who else?) Arcade Fire.
The footage of Garfield on stage was taped live during the second weekend of the musical festival. According to Billboard, before the band played “We Exist,” frontman Win Butler told the crowd: “The right to marry anyone you want is a human rights issue.”
