Blake Shelton has little time for Jimmy Fallon's antics. The country star and host of this weekend's installment of Saturday Night Live, stopped by The Tonight Show on Thursday, Jan. 22, and reluctantly participated in one of Fallon's famous games.
"The Whisper Challenge is a fun thing that we saw people do on YouTube," the host, 40, explained. "One person puts on their headphones with loud music playing, the other person then picks up a card and there's a random phrase on the card. The person wearing the headphones has to try to guess what [the other person] just said."
"Lonely Tonight" singer Shelton, 38, was not amused by Fallon's idea.
"You win something?" he asked. "It's a contest? There's keeping points or something? It's just something stupid we're doing?"
Mumbling under his breath, he resultantly put on the headphones that blasted music to keep him from hearing Fallon. The funnyman tried to get The Voice personality to guess the phrase "Pumpkin Space Latte." While Shelton couldn't decipher the autumnal drink from Starbucks, he was able to translate Fallon urging, "One more time."
The men then switched places, and Shelton was stumped by the clue he was asked to read.
"I don't even know how to say this," he admitted. "Benedict Cumberbatch."
When Fallon guessed the Oscar-nominated star correctly, Shelton yelled incredulously, "There is no way! That doesn't even mean anything! Who?! That's a person? I've never even heard of that." Told by Fallon that Cumberbatch is a "very famous actor," Shelton responded simply, "Bullcrap."
