Always in his heart. Bobby Brown breaks down talking about the tragic recent loss of his daughter Bobbi Kristina in a preview for his upcoming interview with Robin Roberts on 20/20.
“The same thing that happened to my daughter, it happened to Whitney,” the “My Prerogative” singer, 47, tells Roberts, 55, recalling the striking similarities between Bobbi Kristina’s death and his ex-wife Whitney Houston’s.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Houston died in February 2012 at age 48 after she was found unresponsive in a bathtub at the Beverly Hilton hotel in Beverly Hills. Three years later, Bobbi Kristina was found unresponsive in a bathtub at her Georgia home. She died in July 2015 following a six-month medically induced coma.
“The hardest thing I had to do in my life was tell my daughter to let go,” a tearful Brown says in the clip above. “My baby’s gone. I thank God I’m still here.”
In April, Bobbi Kristina’s longtime love Nick Gordon — who Brown has accused of being responsible for his eldest child’s death — spoke out about his girlfriend’s passing during an interview with Dr. Phil. “It was literally a nightmare all over again,” he said at the time.
Gordon was hit with a $10 million wrongful death lawsuit in August 2015, a month after Bobbi Kristina died. According to court documents obtained by Radar Online in October, the lawsuit filed by Bobbi Kristina’s conservator, Bedelia Hargrove, claims that “Ms. Brown died due to a violent altercation with [Gordon] after which he placed her in a bathtub, unconscious, after he injected her with a toxic mixture.”
However, Gordon has maintained his innocence. “The recent lawsuit against Nick is slanderous and meritless,” his attorney Jose Baez told USA Today in August.
Back in March, autopsy results for Bobbi Kristina were released and it was revealed that the R&B scion died as a result of drowning and drug intoxication. The revelation was made by the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s office on what would have been her 23rd birthday.
“First and foremost, 23 years ago today, Bobbi Kristina was born,” Brown told Us in a statement at the time. “Krissy will always live in my heart and soul. I love my baby girl. For news affiliates to seek and obtain my daughter’s autopsy report, before anyone has been brought to justice for her death, is mind blowing to me. Please pray for my family.”
