Attack of the A-listers!

On Thursday morning, organizers for the Cannes Film Festival released its official lineup of films for this year's cinema extravaganza, which gets underway on the French Riviera May 11.

As usual, the flicks chosen for competition and exhibition promise a staggering parade of major movie stars -- including Brad Pitt (starring in Terrence Malick's Tree of Life), Sean Penn (This Must Be the Place), Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz (Pirates of the Caribbean), Ryan Gosling (Drive) and Antonio Banderas (The Skin I Live In).

Perhaps the most talked-about potential star appearances, even above Pitt and love Angelina Jolie? Carla Bruni, the First Lady of France and former supermodel, who stars in Woody Allen's Midnight in Paris -- plus Mel Gibson, whose The Beaver (directed by and starring his pal Jodie Foster) was a surprise inclusion in this year's fest.

No official confirmation yet on which celebs will attend Cannes, which wraps up May 22.
