Camilla Nakagawa surprised herself when she found that she and teammate Johnny Devenanzio were coming out on top during MTV's The Challenge: Battle of the Exes. But along the way, the Spring Break Challenge winner had a few tricks up her sleeve to help her through the rough and tumble challenges.

"I remember singing old Girl Scout songs by the end of it," the Brazilian beauty tells Us Weekly. "This has by far been the most extreme, intense and crazy thing I have ever been through, physically and mentally. This challenge was definitely a life changer for me."

Not only did Nakagawa have to stay strong to beat out the other 12 teams, but she also had to toughen up emotionally when she learned she would be partnered with her one-time fling, Devenanzio, from Real World: Key West.

But just like hanging onto a whipping log suspended above a body of water, the MTV star tells Us that she couldn't have asked for a better, stronger teammate.

"Being partnered with Johnny was a good thing -- we make a very strong team," she says. "He knew what I was capable of and I knew what he was capable of, and we both really trusted each other no matter what, and I believe that's why we got to where we did."
