Though it was a star-studded celebration, Jen Aniston's 42nd birthday dinner was anything but a spectacle.

Dining in a private room at NYC's Spotted Pig restaurant on Friday, the Just Go With It actress was joined by Adam Sandler and his wife Jacqueline Samantha Titone, Hugh Jackman and his wife Deborra-Lee Furness, and comedian Chris Rock.

"They were having a great time. I think Jennifer just loves being surrounded by funny people," a source told UsMagazine.com Friday. "They were laughing the entire night, really enjoying the food."

No word on whether Aniston received any over-the-top gifts from her A-list pals -- not that she wanted any.

"I don't want anything," the actress told Ryan Seacrest on his KIIS-FM radio show earlier in the day. "I have an embarrassment of riches. Let's open a movie! That's what I want."

The outing was relatively low-key compared to previous years, as Aniston spent her 41st birthday in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, with pals Courteney Cox, David Arquette, Gerard Butler and Sheryl Crow.

@ Rose I actually liked it. Screw what critics say I actually thought it was worth it to buy a ticket...of course I snuck into Never Say Never so I got 2 for the price of 1 lol. But both movies rocked it :)

Did any of you see the movie this weekend? I usually watch her movies when they come out on DVD. Except for Marly and Me, which I loved! The previews look really good, but I just want some honest opinions, go watch it at the theater, or save my money and wait for it to be on DVD. By the way, the movie was number one at the box office the results are out. Just by an inch though, the Justin B movie was behind it by only a couple hundred thousand dollars. So congrats to both movies!

i'm half her age and she look twice as good LOL I'm so glad to see her in this movie, it looks kinda funny but more importantly, she's playing a grown woman with kids - she's not trying desperately to look like a 25 year old! yay!

I hope I look 1/2 as good when I'm 42! Here's hoping you find happiness this year, Jen!

That girl (Jen) always looks like she has a party going on inside her. The eyes and smile of a first time visit to Disneyland. I bet she is FUN to be around?!

@courteney, yeah but jennifer actually HAS a golden globe, sag, emmy, and a handful of people's choice awards to her name! She was also nominated for independent spirit award, online film critics society and satellite award for the good girl. WON a CineVegas International Film Festival and GLAAD Media Award for DIRECTING! And yes turning 42 is certainly not a big deal! Most actresses in hollywood are already over 40. you people don't even give her credit where it's due

I like the hair, especially that it hangs into her ugly horseface. The less you can see of it the better she looks, despite botox and surgery.

    She's so fabulous.

  • February 13, 2011 - 1:20am Rose Negrete

She has so many friends, and Happy Birthday to her. She looks terrific, I love her hair.

has it ever occured to you that maybe Cox was invited to the party and couldn't make it. turning 42 in hollywood isn't that big a deal. by the time my favorite actress was Jen's age she'd been married 14 years and won countles acting awards including 2 Golden Globes and & Oscar and would still win many more in the decades after including 2 sags and the Kennedy center honors most of these are things Jen could only dream of winning

  • February 12, 2011 - 7:10pm Mandy Walker
